Racism Test – Take the Free Bias & Cultural Awareness Quiz

Everyone grows up with messages about race, culture and “people like us versus people like them”.

This racism test is a gentle, scenario-based quiz that helps you notice where comfort, discomfort, bias or openness might show up in everyday situations.

It doesn’t judge you, and it doesn’t give a clinical label. It simply turns your own answers into insight you can reflect on in your own time.

Racism Test – Explore Your Attitudes & Biases

This short, educational quiz helps you reflect on your attitudes, comfort levels, and reactions in everyday social situations. It is not a scientific or clinical test and is meant only for personal insight.

Disclaimer

This racism test is an opinion-based self-assessment inspired by concepts in social psychology (implicit bias, stereotypes, social attitudes). It is not a scientific or clinical tool and should not be compared to academic tests such as the Implicit Association Test (IAT). Use it only for personal insight and reflection.

What Is This Racism Test Exactly?

This racism test is an opinion-based self-assessment inspired by ideas from social psychology, such as:

  • implicit and explicit bias
  • stereotypes and learned beliefs
  • social attitudes and group identity
  • cultural sensitivity and openness

You’ll answer short questions about how you usually feel or react in common social situations.

At the end, you receive a score and a short reflection summary that shows where you lean more toward openness and where familiarity or bias might be playing a stronger role.

This is not a scientific or clinical test, and it is not intended to diagnose anyone. Its single goal is to start an honest, private conversation with yourself.

How This Racism Test Works

Step 1 – Answer 10 Everyday Questions

Each question describes a situation you might recognise from daily life: meeting someone new, hearing a stereotype, reacting to an accent, choosing who to sit with, and so on.

You simply choose the answer that feels closest to how you usually respond.

Step 2 – Behind the Scenes Scoring

Every answer has a small score attached to it.

Lower scores usually reflect higher comfort and openness, and higher scores reflect stronger familiarity bias or discomfort with difference.

The site adds up all points to create your overall result.

Step 3 – Get a Reflection Summary

At the end you’ll see:

  • Your total score
  • A short category name (for example, “Highly Open & Culturally Aware” or “Moderate Familiarity Bias”)
  • A clear explanation in simple language

You are free to agree, disagree, or just think about it.

Nothing is saved, and no account is required.

What Your Result Really Means

Your score is not a verdict on who you are.

It is a snapshot of how your current habits, experiences and comfort zones show up in the scenarios described in the quiz.

In general:

  • Lower scores suggest more ease with diversity, empathy and individual-focused thinking.
  • Middle scores suggest a mix of openness and common, learned biases that most people carry.
  • Higher scores suggest a stronger pull toward what feels familiar and more discomfort with differences.

None of these categories mean “good person” or “bad person”.

They are starting points for questions like:

  • Where did I learn to see people this way?
  • What experiences shaped these reactions?
  • Do I want to keep responding like this, or change it over time?

Why Take a Racism Test or Bias Quiz?

Bias is often quiet and automatic. We don’t always notice it, but it can influence who we listen to, who we avoid, who we trust, and whose experiences we take seriously.

A simple reflection tool like this can help you:

  • Notice patterns you might not have seen before
  • Understand how comfort and discomfort shape your reactions
  • Become more intentional in how you treat people
  • Start conversations with yourself, friends or colleagues about attitudes and change

You don’t need to share your result with anyone.

Awareness itself is valuable.

About This Project

This racism test project was created for people who want a calm, non-aggressive way to think about race, bias and cultural sensitivity

The questions are:

  • written in plain, everyday language
  • based on ideas from social psychology and bias research
  • focused on reflection, not judgment

We are not a university, clinic or research lab, and we do not claim scientific validation.

Instead, this site aims to sit between education and self-awareness: simple enough for anyone to use, serious enough to take your time and feelings seriously.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this racism test scientifically accurate?

This is an informal, opinion-based quiz, inspired by concepts in social psychology but not validated as a clinical or academic tool. It should not replace professional advice or scientific tests like the Implicit Association Test (IAT).

Does this quiz label me as racist or not racist?

The quiz does not try to put a label on you.
It highlights patterns of comfort, familiarity and bias based on your answers. What you do with that information is completely up to you.

Are my answers stored or shared?

No personal identifying information is required to take the quiz.
The intent is to give you a private reflection, not to track or expose anyone.

Can my score change over time?

Yes. As your experiences, awareness and environment change, your reactions may change too. You can retake the quiz later to see if your answers feel different.

Is this the same as Harvard’s Implicit Association Test (IAT)?

No. The IAT is a scientific experiment used in research settings.
This quiz is a simplified, scenario-based reflection tool for everyday users, not a replacement for academic tests.
